Dear young pianists, dear competitors!<\/p>\n

You are warmly welcome to the Profound Arts Festival Music Competition. The Jury is looking forward to listening and evaluating your interpretation of masterpieces of classical music. Representing the jury I would like to communicate some criteria that will guide our assessment.<\/p>\n

Each interpreter has a different personality with own special approach to the music played. We will appreciate this very much, because music needs a capturing and touching rendering which can only be achieved when the interpreter identifies himself emotionally with the pieces he plays.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless there are limits within which an interpretation should be created. Music like language is bound to certain rules and principles in order to be understandable for others. The accentuation and length of syllables cannot be changed arbitrarily and phrases must follow a logical structure, thus a point or comma has to be put in the right place, to transfer a thought appropriately.<\/p>\n

There are three parameters which determine the musical language: dynamics, agogics and articulation, furthermore there is sound management and pedaling as important asset. All these components have to be used in appropriate way to express the ideas of the composer. (In my book \u201cNotes become Music\u201d * I tried to clarify how musical language works and to explain how to read a musical score properly, as many of important nuances are not written out in common musical notation and have to be known previously).<\/p>\n

The humble and noble aim of our playing should be to render the masterpieces of classical music in the most expressive way according to the composer`s imagination and thus fulfilling our task as interpreters.<\/p>\n
